In 2007, brother-sister Parker and Hannah would find themselves in Israel, where their parents were leading worship for a tour hosted by renowned pastor and author Dr. David Jeremiah. An unexpected and pivotal conversation during the trip resulted in the siblings joining their parents onstage. Performing together for the first time in the Holy Land—of all places—was an unforgettable moment for the family, and it also began to make Parker and Hannah think more seriously about their own musical paths. The siblings have taken the stage with The Rick Webb Family many times since that momentous trip, but Parker and Hannah have also plotted a trajectory all their own—an endeavor their parents wholeheartedly support. Today, the duo write and record under the moniker Guilford, a name shaped by the people and the place they come from: Guilford County, North Carolina. This new chapter in the family’s rich musical history effortlessly merges Parker’s love of southern rock and Hannah’s affinity for Americana into a timeless and unique genre-defying sound. Their artistry pays homage to the roots music carved into the very land they call home and the faith they’ve forged through personal experience. Ultimately, it’s a name that represents everything they are— and everything they hope to be. “When we decided to start singing together, it was bringing two genres that spoke to our hearts together for one purpose, and that purpose was honoring the Lord through the styles we love,” Parker explains. Parker and Hannah’s stirring vocals intertwine around a plaintive prayer underpinned by elements of modern folk and traditional country on “Come To Jesus.” Meanwhile, they put their unique stamp on the centuries-old hymn “Come Thou Fount,” their bright, foot-stomping version rich in acoustic instrumentation. Like their beloved Guilford County, North Carolina, the siblings’ collaboration is rich in history, giving Parker and Hannah Webb a firm foundation of place and purpose beneath their feet.
